Elisan

Elisan, one of the original twelve prime material worlds, rests among the worlds of the multiverse as a massive pearl in a dark ocean.

If the universe had a true center, then it would revolve around the planes of creation. The Prime Material Plane (Plane of Life), or the mortal planes, exist at the center of creation. It is here that the four elements of creation bonded together to form the stars and worlds that harbor the essence of life.

The planes of creation have one additional piece that exists outside of both the mortal planes and the elemental planes. These planes are known as the Primordial Planes. Within the Primordial Planes, the basic elements of creation remain unstable. Thus, mortal beliefs can be imprinted upon the primordial Source. The currents of the Primordial Planes always remain erratic and little lasts for any length of time. Deities of Faith make their homes here. They create semi-permanent demi-planes within the Primordial Planes. They pull their strength from the worship of the souls on the Prime Material Plane; they then siphon the raw power of the Source to feed to their followers. Deities can create stable currents within the Source for as long as they retain worshipers. However, as a god’s power wanes, their demi-plane is destroyed and they are forced to return to the unprotected chaos of the Primordial Planes.

In addition to Gods, the Primordial planes are home to concepts. Arcane users can fashion their own demi-planes from the Primordial planes as long as they can maintain the force of will to stave off the inherent instability. Also, such concepts as Faerie exist within the Primordial planes. Any creatures created and given life by the dreams of mortals also live here. This includes Fey creatures, magical beasts, and aberrations. Many of the creatures eventually pass through the elemental planes, and into the Prime Material Plane where they become real.

Below the planes of creation rest the Negative Material Planes. The Negative Material Plane is home to the Terror (Dread Reaper). The plane sucks the very essence of creation away and destroys it for all time. The Planes of Hell surround the Negative Material Plane. It is here that the truly evil souls have fled. The denizens of Hell were unwilling souls who have gained enough power to exist as demons and devils outside the lair of their master. These corrupted souls have lost all hope for redemption and have fallen completely to the taint of the Terror. They now serve their master by plotting ways to destroy the worlds of creation. Hell remains eternally dark. No light is permitted so close to the resting-place of the Terror. It is a savage plane that oozes with evil and the constant draining presence of the Negative Material Plane means that those who live in Hell suffer a hideous and continuing pain that leaches the essence of their souls.
