The Maw of the Void is an every expanding and evolving demiplane controlled by a twist, evil god, Vortellex.  The demiplane’s primary manifestation is an arena complex  affectionally known to Vortellex as “The Arena of Death” or its buffet.

The Maw was first discovered by an unfortunately Keeper.  Vortellex tortured and slowly devoured the Keeper’s will, lifeforce but particularly relished the suffering and pain.  The Maw is the physical embodiment of Vortellex.  Every death in “The Arena” leaves another soul in the maw of Vortellex increasing its power and its bloodlust.  

With the knowledge of portals and gateways acquired by the Keeper, Vortellex is no longer waiting  for a random meal.  It is starting to create portals and gateways where it tempts or sucks in sentient beings to travel to its demiplane.  In its feeding, Vortellex, has acquired a taste for more than just souls; the battles themselves have become its only source of entertainment, hence the gladiatorial nature. to engage in gladiatorial style games.  Vortellex loves the creativity and enthusiasm of certain lineages; It will reward the most creative and surviving being with treasure, knowledge, power and magic items.  

Vortellex is creating quite a reputation among the Shadowed.  It will put on very enjoyable social viewing parties for those so inclined and willing to bring a snack for Vortellex.
