A slowly rotating world where a “day” lasts as long as most worlds’ years. The population consists primarily of Beastkin divided between migratory nomads constantly fleeing the blazing day or frozen night, and settled peoples in fortified cities who can stockpile or hibernate through the winter. The constantly shifting landscape occasionally exposes ruins that hint at a more technologically sophisticated past. As do the wandering mechanical monsters.
Notable local polities include:
Juggernauters: A strange tribe of fennec-kin who follow a massive tank-like construct they know simply as “the Juggernaut” as it trundles across the equatorial desert. The fennecs help clean and repair the Juggernaut and it protects them in return.
Latrine Armada: A ramshackle fleet of watercraft crewed by otter-kin who have found a niche ferrying other nomads across the seas. Some coastal cities accuse them of harboring pirates.
The Train: To the south of the equatorial desert lies an endless railroad traveled by a lengthy train, its engine powered by the rising sun but leaving its caboose in the frozen night. The horse-kin family running the engine maintain their rule with the aid of an armory of artifact weaponry.
Ursine Dominion: A rising power dominated by bear-kin from the river-straddling city-state of Ursus. As their salmon supply begins to run low their armies have begun to venture out in search of new resources.
