Aldara—A Mythic World of Heroes, Gods, and Monsters

Aldara—A Mythic World of Heroes, Gods, and Monsters

Aldara is a world steeped in ancient catastrophe and enduring defiance—a setting where divine silence, planar instability, and magical ruin have reshaped the fabric of reality. Once the seat of radiant gods and civilizations powered by impossible sorcery, Aldara now teeters on the edge of mythic rebirth or final collapse. It is a world where hope endures not because it is easy—but because it must.

The Loom is Torn

In the final decades of the previous century, Aldara’s greatest empires fell—some to their own hubris, others to planar corruption. The collapse of the Cyneric Empire, a civilization of skyborne cities and reality-breaking engines, left behind dangerous ruins and relics of blackpowder-era magitech. But worse still was the rise of Zaydaminos, the Hollow God, whose pursuit of apotheosis nearly unmade the world.

The Dread War that followed shattered the continent of Naera. Eleven champions stood against the god-husk and sealed him within a prison in the Shadow Plane—but not before cities fell, gods vanished, and fate itself was wounded. Now, years later, whispers of his relics return. Cults rise. And the Loom remains frayed.

A World in Recovery—and Resistance

Aldara’s fractured nations chart uneasy paths forward. Valoria rebuilds itself as a democratic republic from the ashes of monarchy. Elithyr is a land of enchanted wilds, spellbound ruins, and ancient secrets. Almakhzan—birthplace of blackpowder technology—remains a feudal empire whose reach may soon outpace its grasp. And in the far east, Tetsumori Yasunori rallies the Tenkokujin Empire of Tenkoku behind visions of imperial destiny.

Yet not all is lost. The Paragons of Valoria, a new knightly order forged after the Dread War, stand sworn to defend the world from extraplanar threats. Eruithäl’s sanctums pursue the truth of prophecy. And across Aldara, those who remember the past struggle to keep the future intact.

Themes and Playstyle

Aldara supports campaigns rooted in:

  • Postwar mystery and unsealed relics of forbidden magic

  • Survivor narratives and divine absence

  • Cults, heresies, and god-husks

  • Planar bleed, broken borders, and metaphysical secrets

  • Hope, grief, and legacy in a world still healing

Player characters may be descendants of heroes, resistance agents, relic hunters, or god-touched wanderers. Their stories are shaped not by destiny alone, but by the price they’re willing to pay to reshape the world.

Using Aldara in the Labyrinth

Aldara is ideal for campaigns involving the Near Void, the Outer Dream, or fractured divine realms. Its unstable planar boundaries make it a rich setting for interplanar travel, lost god relics, and mythic-scale choices. The Skull of Zaydaminos, Erethon’s Fang, and Voidkin cults offer powerful narrative catalysts for any multiverse story.

Recommended Level Range: 5–15
Primary Planar Anchors: The Shadow Plane, Argent Sea, Maelstrom, Outer Dream
Signature Factions: Order of the Dread Lord, Paragons of Valoria, Twilight Circle, Tenkokujin Empire

Aldara stands as a reminder: the world may break—but it can still be rebuilt.
