Tirsanct is a world that once might have been called High Fantasy. It was a world filled with a myriad of races, from numerous fey to playful dragons and wise elves. While these lineages had their differences, they all lived in relative harmony, watched over by the Four Gods, powerful embodiments of the elements: Caru-Var, the mighty Water God shaped like a manta ray; Flaru-Mis, the serpentine Fire God; Vi-Cur, the the great pterosaur Sky God; and the slime covered Tera-Rum, the Earth God. Together, these four gods ensured the prosperity and well being of life in Tirsanct.
Unfortunately, this peace was not to last. The tendrils of The Void found their way to this world over a thousand years ago, and from it came forth a champion known as The Great Beast, a draconic abomination said to have numerous legs like a spider and countless eyes. The Great Beast unleashed its wrath upon Tirsanct when it fell from the sky, carving a path of blood and destruction. The fey were all but wiped out, the dragons scattered, the beastkin torn asunder and the elves forced to flee. From its blood was born aberrations and abominations, and those corrupted by its essence became hags and trolls. Just as all hope seemed lost, two human brothers blessed by the Four Gods struck down The Great Beast, and sealed its body deep within the earth. Its immortal heart was sealed elsewhere from its body, and its brain was lost in the conflict.
Today, the world of Tirsanct is in three distinct zones, shaped by the actions of the Four Gods and The Great Beast. In the east is the Kingdom of Ai, founded by the Two Brothers. Ai is a kingdom that enjoys a close relationship with the Four Gods. It is a welcoming kingdom, filled with gnolls and elves and dwarves. It has fought long against the Haglands, a large zone of fetid swamps and corruptive miasma left behind by The Great Beast. Here, tribes of hags seek to become the dominant force of Tirsanct and call upon magic only the wisest and oldest of them know is of The Void to achieve their goals. Powerful spirits, giants, and dragons also call this region home, with some allying themselves with the hags or controlling them. Temples dedicated to The Great Beast are scattered across the swamps and marshes, housing terrible ancient evils and a few unknown pathways into The Labyrinth.
Lastly lays the newly born Kingdom of Cur, formed 200 years ago from the prayers of a child who lost everything to the hags. From his prayers, came forth a warrior who traversed The Labyrinth and was summoned there, a warrior known only as The Matriarch. She now leads the fight against the hags, blessing several of her chosen knights into powerful warriors. However, in recent years The Matriarch has shifted her gaze toward the non-human lineages within Cur, deeming them a threat and persecuting them. War, it seems, is inevitable…
