How to Record Your World

Log in or create a new account, then enter the name and description in the fields. You can use up to 10 words for the title and roughly 500 words of description. Hyperlinks, foul language, and existing settings (ie Golarian or Freeport) are not allowed without permission from the publisher. The IP wizards will strike down rude or offensive or duplicative worlds.

This archive is for adventurers and explorers, so new worlds only, please!

Grant: By entering your world’s name and description here, you are granting Kobold Press permission to share your setting with readers on this website. No other rights are granted or implied. You may delete your world or modify it at any time. You may submit any number of worlds you like, but at some point the site software will flag you as a spammer.

Terms & Conditions: Kobold Press reserves the right to remove or reject any listing or comment it deems offensive, spam, hyperlinked, commercial, or otherwise not in keeping with its standards and policies. By posting worlds or comments to the Labyrinth Archive of Worlds, you agree to these terms.

Define Genre, Type, and Faction
Assign your world to one or more Genre categories and one of the World Types. You can choose to add one or more of the Labyrinth factions to your description, or indicate that the world is home to no Labyrinth-travelling factions at all.

Dark Fantasy: Traditional fantasy gameplay filled with dark forces, the occult, or modest horror elements. Grimdark settings fit into this category; humans and heroes are usually under threat and things are not fine; world-ending or soul-sucking magic is a given.

High Fantasy: Lots of magic, non-human lineages, orcs and fey, and other traditional elements define core high fantasy. This is the default assumption of games like Tales of the Valiant and Dungeons & Dragons, and the most popular genre of fantasy by far.

Low/Gritty Fantasy: Very little magic, often difficult healing, few wizards and clerics. Low or gritty fantasy settings are about warriors, rogues, and your wits!

Horror/Mythos: It doesn’t have to be mind-blasting Cthulhu flavor, but it does have to be horrifying, disturbing, and unsettling in the tradition of the horror genre. Includes body horror, Gothic horror, splatter, undead-dominated worlds, survival horror, and folk horror as well as Mythos horror.

Science Fantasy: Laser swords, mystic powers, robots, and even spaceships can be part of a science fantasy world! Technomagic, magepunk, and computers could easily be part of a science fantasy setting.

Steampunk: Early industrial machines, goggles, clockwork creatures, and often telegraph-level electrics are part of steampunk, along with steam engines, boilers, and top hats.

Weird Fantasy: It’s hard to categorize this one: living worlds, worlds without humans, worlds that are entirely inhabited by insects or oozes or cheerful necromancers. Weird fantasy has no limits, and it’s a catch-all genre by design.

Sunlit A safe world: growing, pleasant, innocent, and undiscovered. A land of plenty and joy.

Warded A place of safety, but guarded and vigilant, sometimes needing to fend off evil visitors.

Shadowed The roots of the Void have sunk into the world but are weak and thin. Strongholds of evil exist on the margins or in hidden places.

Darkened: Undead and fiends are common, as are deadly mists and plagues. These places are rich in void magic, low in hope.

Lost Burning, dusty, frozen, airless, crumbled, or otherwise ruined. Nothing that lives can thrive.

No Factions Present: The world has not been discovered by explorers from the Labyrinth. It is usually a newly born world or a hidden world, unknown to others.

Brothers of the Last Cathedral:  The Last Cathedral is a major void faction led by two undead brothers—the Lich King and the King of the Death Knights—who terrorize the worlds of the Labyrinth with their Eternal legions of undead soldiers and fanatical living cultists.

Concord of Stars: An alliance of warriors, priests, and celestials on a perpetual guard against the forces of the Void. Their allies include many gods of light and mercy, and their fortress at Sunhome is a jumping off point for scouting and for full expeditions into darkened worlds.

Dreamers: Servants of the Dreaming god, the Dreamers are stereotyped as wild, loud, and visionary. Their visions are often true: they operate on instinct and prophecies. Many warriors, monks, and barbarians are found among their number, as well as priests of Kartokk.

Great Chantry of the Voidmother: The Great Chantry is a clerical order devoted to the Void and the gods of its dark pantheon. Two sects form the heart of the cult: the Sisterhood of the Outer Darkness and the Scribes of the Black Star. Both work to undo the work of the gods of light, and further dark ends.

Infernals: Mortals associated with the Hells, the Infernals are hardly honorably. But they do want the Labyrinth to survive, and they are keen scouts and explorers of the borderlands. Often the first to find a new world. Warlocks and witches are common in their ranks.

Keepers of the Keys: Wizards and mechanists, the Keepres of the Keys prize knowledge and secrets; their libraries record the paths of the Labyrinth and its changing portals, and they control the secrets of forging, maintaining, and destroying new paths and portals. Many archmages know of them or join their ranks. They have a loose alliance with the mechadrons.

The Old Ring: Druids, rangers, bards, minotaurs, giants, and dragons: the members of the Old Ring are ancient and powerful, though often slow to act. They grow and control the World Trees and understand the Labyrinth via Primordial wisdom and a long history of slow, careful wandering.

Servants of Nidhogg: Led by Nargoth, greatest of the void saints, the Servants of Nidhogg are a doomsday cult that worships Nidhogg, First Dragon and Chewer of the World Tree. Scattered across the Labyrinth in dozens of cells, the Servants work to hasten the inevitable end of the multiverse by spreading death, destruction, and fear.
